Lexidash
Privacy Policy

Lexidash is a vocabulary game. We built it to collect as little as possible. We don't ask for your name, email address, phone number or location, and we don't track you across other apps or websites. The free version shows ads, which are never personalized; Lexidash Plus has none.
What stays on your device
Your learning progress, streaks, word history, rival record and settings are stored on your device. We never see them.
What our server keeps
Your player on our server is linked to Game Center if your device is signed in to it, and is a guest player otherwise. For either, the server keeps:
- Your player name and color. Names are made up by the app from word lists, so they can't contain real names or personal details.
- Your rating and match results: scores, wins and who you played, from live duels, ghost races and friend rooms (friend rooms don't change your rating).
- Word reports, if you report a problem with a word: the word and the reason you picked.
- Recorded runs: which answers you picked and how fast. Other players may race a copy of a run as a "ghost," shown with your player name.
- A private key the app uses to sign in as your player. It is stored in your device's keychain (and in iCloud Keychain, if you use it, so your player comes back on your other devices). Only a scrambled version is kept on the server.
- An App Attest key: a key your device makes and Apple certifies, so the server knows requests come from the real Lexidash app. Only its public half is kept.
- Lexidash Plus, if you subscribe: when it ends and the App Store's transaction ID for it (see below).
- Your Game Center player ID, if you play with Game Center: an anonymous ID that Game Center gives Lexidash so your player can come back on another device. We don't receive your Game Center name, friends or contact details.
When a guest player is created, Apple's DeviceCheck service stores a flag for your device, so we can limit new guest players to one per device each month. Apple doesn't tell us who you are or which device it is.
To stop abuse and runaway costs, the server also counts how many new players each network creates per day. It stores a one-way scrambled version (a hash) of the network's IP address for that count, not the address itself. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes IP addresses to deliver and protect the service, and keeps short-lived request logs.
Ads
The free version of Lexidash shows ads from Google AdMob: a full-screen ad now and then between games, an optional video you can choose to watch for a reward (like more practice or more online duels), and a small banner while you wait for a friend in a room. Lexidash Plus has no ads.
- Never personalized. We tell Google not to personalize ads, and Lexidash doesn't ask to track you, so ads aren't chosen from your activity in other apps or websites.
- What Google collects to show an ad. Google's ad software in the app receives your IP address (which shows your rough location), information about your device and the app (such as model, system version and app version), and how you interact with ads (what was shown, whether you tapped it, how long a video played), along with crash and performance information. Google uses this to deliver and measure ads and to stop fraud. See Google's Privacy Policy and how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
- Suitable for teens. Ads are limited to Google's Teen content rating, and for players aged 13 to 17 we ask Google to apply its protections for teens.
- Your choice where the law requires it. In the UK, the EU and Switzerland, Google asks for your consent first. You can change it any time in Me › gear › Ad privacy choices.
- Rewards. When you watch the video for more online duels, Google tells our server your player ID and the reward, so the duels can be added. That record is deleted after 7 days. Other rewards are added on your device.
Anonymous usage stats
To learn which parts of the game people use and where they get stuck, the app sends short, anonymous signals to TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service based in the EU: for example "finished onboarding", "finished a quick match (won, Classic format)", "opened the Plus screen", "watched a rewarded video", "picked a racer", "turned a reminder on" or "asked iOS to show the rating prompt". Signals never include your player name, your player ID, the words you answered or your age group. The app takes the identifier Apple gives Lexidash on your device and scrambles it (a one-way hash) before sending, so TelemetryDeck can count returning players without knowing who they are, and the data isn't linked to your player. Lexidash Plus
Purchases are made and managed by Apple. We never see your payment details or your Apple Account. After a purchase, restore or renewal, the app sends our server the App Store's signed record of it (the product, its dates and a transaction ID), so the server knows your Plus is active. You can manage or cancel Plus in your iPhone's Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions.
Reminders
If you allow notifications, Lexidash can send an optional daily reminder at a time you choose, and a streak reminder at 9 PM if you haven't played that day while you have a streak going. The streak reminder is on once notifications are allowed and can be turned off in Me › gear › Reminders. Both are scheduled on your device, not sent from our server.
Age
Lexidash is for players 13 and up. The first time you open it, the app asks the year you were born. If you're under 13, the app stops there, nothing you entered is saved, and the device only remembers that it was turned away. Otherwise the app keeps your age group (13 to 17, or 18 and over) on your device and never stores or sends the year itself. Player names are made up by the app, there's no chat or free-typed text (only a few preset reactions), and we don't collect names or contact details.
How we use it
Only to run the game: matching players, scoring, ratings, ghost races, daily limits, Lexidash Plus, rewards from ads, and keeping the service safe. We don't sell your data, and our server doesn't share it with advertisers. Ads come from Google as described above.
Who processes it
Our server runs on Cloudflare (Workers, Durable Objects and D1 database) in the United States. Apple provides the App Store, purchases, Game Center, DeviceCheck, App Attest and notifications. Google provides ads through AdMob.
Keeping and deleting it
We keep your player until you delete it. In the app, open Me, tap the gear and choose Delete account. This removes your player, match results, recorded runs, word reports, App Attest keys and Plus record from our server right away (it doesn't cancel a subscription; Apple does that). Daily counters, including the scrambled network addresses and reward records, are deleted after 7 days. Information Google collects for ads is kept under Google's own policies. You can also email support@lexidash.com to ask what we hold or to have it deleted.

If we change this policy, we'll update the date above. If a change affects what we collect, we'll tell you in the app first.
